Job Requirements

Responsible to coordinate and oversee all catering sales, orders, and events (onsite and offsite) for Wow Bao.  Responsible for driving the growth of the business through acquiring, maintaining and servicing catering clients and guests of both on and off-site events. Also responsible for transporting food and equipment as needed using a company-owned vehicle.


The primary responsibility of the Catering Sales Manager is to surpass the annual budget for onsite & offsite sales.  Sales categories include, and are not limited to: large catering deliveries, large catering pick up orders, offsite steam shows, charity cooking demonstrations, full inhouse/out of house catered events, and more.  Orders will be received by cold calling, answering the phone, online orders, and guest inquiries.

 ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND POSITION FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure the overall guest experience exceeds expectations and anticipate guests’ needs
  • Greet guests with a warm, sincere smile – smile with your voice.
  • Use tact and good judgement when dealing with guest challenges and respond to guest needs with patience and courtesy
  • Oversee catered events, both on and off-site, ensuring smooth and efficient service
  • Confirm orders with guests prior to delivery, and confirm orders with restaurant staff to insure accuracy prior to delivery.
  • Work with third party delivery companies to provide the best Wow Bao catered experience.
  • Solicit new catering customers through prospecting and cold calls
  • Load, transport and unload food, furniture and equipment to off-site events or designated storage space using vehicle provided
  • Communicate clearly and effectively all contract, event and host details to staff working events
  • Maintain and update client list as property of Wow Bao
  • Develop and accurately write catering proposals and contracts
  • Follow specific off-site event instructions including, but not limited to, checklists, contracts, floor plan diagrams, table settings, inventory sheets and effectively opening and closing the event space
  • Assist team in developing catering menus
  • Effectively staff all catering events
  • Attend / Lead weekly catering meetings and communicate all pertinent information to appropriate personnel
  • Order and maintain supplies, decorations and equipment
  • Maintain a list of preferred third party vendors
  • Comprehend and maintain incentive programs for Wow Bao catering personnel and customers
  • Accurately record and account for all items ordered, process payments, and balance all sales/receipts in compliance with restaurant policies and procedures
  • Comprehend catering budgets and sales goals
  • Understand and respond knowledgeably to questions about the restaurants, menu items and availability of dates for potential clients
  • Use sales techniques to present and encourage current promotions to guests
  • Follow all steps of service
  • Prepare, package, and transport catering orders.
  • Understand and follow the food allergy procedure and special orders/restrictions
  • Proficiency in the use and operation of all necessary tools, equipment, and software
  • Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures
  • Follow all rules, policies, procedures and conditions of employment, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Ability to get along well with others and be a team player
  • Other duties will be assigned as needed

GENERAL RULES:  Must be willing and able to do the following:

  • Available to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends
  • Safely drive and operate the provided vehicle in variable traffic conditions throughout city and suburban areas
  • Comply with Department of Motor Vehicle requirements including proof of a current, valid driver’s license and personal auto insurance
  • Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and equipment, including knives and thermometers
  • Ability to communicate in English in order to perform and follow job requirements in written and spoken direction
  • Ability to multi-task calmly and effectively in a busy, stressful environment
  • Work in a confined, crowded space of variable noise and temperature levels
  • Able to move and lift up to 10 pounds, frequently move and/or lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift and move safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven or slick surfaces
